bawled on Xmas eve to the kids

This is the first Xmas Eve I have not had a traditional Xmas.
Dh is working and we will only see him for a few hours tomorrow. I got into an argument with a family member earlier.
I rented a bunch of movies and bought popcorn for the kiddos. I told them to take it easy while I cleaned and got everything ready for Christmas. They have made messes all day. Ds4 flooded the bathroom by placing multiple rolls of toilet paper in the sink and leaving it running etc.
I lost it and started crying and guilt tripped my kids about how they were being naughty and as a result I was doing nothing, but cleaning up their messes and being treated like a slave.

Don't feel bad, it's a stressful time of year. Take a deep breath and have a rest. The house doesn't have to be spotless. Santa won't care ;)

Make them help clean up the messes they are making.

I just felt bad telling them to clean when it is Xmas Eve and we weren't celebrating... then they took advantage of me.

Sounds like a hard day, I'm sorry.  I hope tomorrow is better despite not getting to spend all day with your husband.  *hugs*

Kids will do that when they know they can get away with it. Mine do it to. My son has been sick all day and it has been tough to deal with him. I hope your night gets better
