Some relatives are out of town amd ive been coming over to feed their cats. This morning I came in and low and behold, one of the cats had kittens. There are 3, but im pretty sure one is dead. It doesnt appear to be moving and the mom isnt touching it. I cant get a hold of the family. Mom wont let me get even in eye shot to see if the one that isnt moving is ok. Do I just leave it there?Do I wait for an opportunity to check on it? The mom is very aggressive right now, and understandably so.

I'd leave it and continue to try and reach the family

Call a vet? That's what I would do

Leave her be. She will either remove the dead one, or move the live ones.

Gross, but if dead she would have probably eaten it.

I would leave it alone.  There probably isnt much you could do for it anyway.

I'd leave it alone for now and call a vet and see what they suggest

Call animal control, they will take it.

I'd just leave it be until you contact your relatives.

Once she realizes it is dead, which can take a little while for a new Mom, she'll stop protecting it.  Cats have been known to abandon an entire litter if one was messed with too soon.  If this is her first time having kittens, she's more likely to ditch them all if you mess with one.  Also, the younger she is the more likely she will react poorly.

Quoting Anonymous: Leave her be. She will either remove the dead one, or move the live ones.
