Can an urgent care refuse to take someone without insurance?

ER cannot refuse.

No they make you pay x amount up from and can do a payment plan for the rest... Or that's what ours does

The emergency room cannot.

I think they probably can. Most urgent cares are privately owned, so they aren't under the same regulations as many hospitals are.

i would say yes.  if they're a private business, they can accept (or decline to accept) any form of payment.  i've heard of places that refuse insurance patients, so i would think that certain places would decline to see self-pay patients.

Yes... you could try to set up a payment plan, but they don't have to see you.

When my best friend moved here she fell on the ice and broke her wrist. She went to urgent care and they had her fill out the forms (with her left hand!) for a payment plan BEFORE seeing her. Urgent care is not the free clinic. Pay or get out.

Yup or they can charge you an amount.

Yes an urgent care can unless its a life threatning situation or if a woman is in labor. An emergency room can not turn anyone away no matter what.
