What did you have to do to become an animal control officer?

What is the worst case you've seen?

If a dog has young puppies and snaps at a person as they take a puppy away(leaves with puppy about 2 weeks old. This person stole the puppy) is it normal for animal control to make the demand for a dog to be put down because the dog was trying to protect its young?

I took veterinary sciences and police services in college.  I am licences with the union for animal shelters and services with my province and had to take a provincial training course to qualify for my licence, as well as a full background check.

The worst cases are always the puppymills or the backyards breeders that just don't care.  Cages on top of cages, disease, dead dogs lying in their own filth ect.  It's horrific.

No.  If a dog bite is reported an assessment is done on the situation and the dog and an investgation report is filed.  Our city has a 3 strike rule for dog bites however.  It varies upon bylaws.

Worst case of back yard breeding? Was it horse, dog or another type of animal?
