Floor Vents

In my home we have floor vents. I am looking to get some new ones because they are really old. Also, I have two toddlers and they love to throw things down them. I was wondering if maybe they made some that were mesh. You know, so the air can come through but nothing can fall down? Does anyone know if they make them like that and where to find them? I just hate putting my hand down there all the time...

I have never seen any unfortunately. Let me know if you find some because my toddler loves throwing things in mine as well.

Couldnt you just cover the inside of it with mesh?
Im not sure thats really good for yoyr heatng system though.

What a brilliant idea! I always wish they did have them. My DS lives putting things down there... Yesterday it was zip ties and I am not putting my hand down there. Way to scary even though we just had our ducts replaced last year. I hate that they are on the floor I actually just found out that most carpet cleaning companies also clean out air ducts.

If it's mesh, the air flow could still get through though right?

Yes, but now youre creating like filter. Are these cold air returns and heating vents...or ne or the other. I think the cold air retrn would be abigger problem.

Just take them apart weekly to vacuum the dust that will inevitably clog it on he mesh.
