I don't know. Am I a bad mom

So, since I buy my kids clothes at consignment stores and goodwill.. My family thinks that I don't care about how they look since I buy poor people clothes for my kids. It really hurts my feeling since I can't really afford new clothes for them. And I don't see buying brand new clothes since they grow out of them so fast. What do you all think am I bad mom because I shop at consignment stores and goodwill for my kids clothes??

I agree. My family is similar to OP's very judgmental. So bad, we stay away from family gatherings.

Quoting Valentina327: Would be a much nicer thing to do to help out rather than criticize....I love when family looks down their nose at their own relatives. We catch enuf crap from the outside world...family should help, not berate.

Your not a bad parent and if your family cared so mch sorry to say this but maybe they should go buy them expensive clothes instead of complaining about it.

"Poor people clothes"

Sure. That's why I regularly find 400$ hand bags at thrift shops.

(Handbags are useless might I add)

Yeah, id cut them off..they are clothes. Not rich people clothes, not poor people clothes. Just clothes.

I think your family is a bad family if they cannot understand the difference between not caring and caring.

Then tell your rich snobby family to buy your kids new clothes lol. Give them a list of needs along with sizes and see what they do/say

Of course not. So is your family well off or something?

Yes, they are. Me and dh are the only 'poor' people in our family. And my family likes to remind us that we are poor.

Those "$400 handbags" are fakes, counterfeit. At least the ones I found at my goodwill. I had a couple checked out officially and they were all fake.
