I don't know what it's like to have a mother...

I have never had a caring loving motherly relationship with anyone. My mom was in and out of my life growing up but we were never close and we would go years without talking. I still have a hard time making friends with older women, I have a hard time letting my guard down. My dad was a very loving caring person, so I am able to give my children that love but I wonder what it would be like to have that love..

I'm sorry hun.  My mom was emotionally and mentally abusive but I still miss her and wish she was still alive.  Here's a bump and a hug for you

I've never had a father figure and my mom was/is...different.

You have to let this go or it will eat you up!

I know the feeling. But I try and focus on using it as a way to learn how to parent my own children. The "what not to do" guide, so to speak.
Don't dwell on it. It will only bring you down, and it's not something you can change. Hugs.
