What was the process like? How long did it take? How old was he? What country? Did you see the other kids at the orphanage? Sorry so many questions!

I'm glad he had a home to go to! How old was he?

My cousin adopted two boys that were abused as toddlers.

It took them 5 years for them to start, but when they started it was bad.

They started saying they wanted to kill the other kids, even rape them. One began hearing voices to the point where he was saying things that he would have never known. He knew a lot of the Greek Gods by name and said he himself was a God.

They are very unstable and broken. Unfortunately it has made me never want to adopt.

Oh wow! I've always thought how great it would be to adopt from the foster system, but things like that scare the tar out of me!

The process wasn't too bad,it was a lot of paperwork, physicals, etc. It took 1 yr from start to finish. She was 8 and from India! no we didn't see the other kids,we had her escorted, due to my husbands job,we weren't able to travel,we did meet her at the point of entry in the US.

I didn't adopt but my best friend did. Adopted through foster care. They had no race or gender preferences, but they did want a baby. It didn't take long at all. Less than a year. Maybe 8 months? Their son came to them at 3 months old and was adopted with no issue. Bio mom already had lost 8 other children and gave the baby up willingly. It cost them very little. He's 12 now.
