I was off for 2 weeks from Dec 16-26th. I was suppose to receive unemployment payment for that time. It is January 8th & I have not received the payment yet=/ I called labor dept today & they told me they sent it January 3rd. I had chose the direct deposit option so it should have been in my account by now. I wonder what the hell is going on?!?!?!?

How did you get unemployment if you voluntarily took time off?

Usually the first week is a waiting week and you don't get paid.

I don't know if every state is different. When work is slow, the job offers voluntarily time off which we are able to collect unemployment if it's more than a week time off.

When my husband was offshore, a lot of the others did this. It's just another way to work the system, unfortunately.

OP - you took the time off. Why do you feel you qualify for unemployment?

That's how it is set up at work when work is slow.

Our job allows us to have that option when work is slow.

That sounds like a misuse of the system. Are you laid off during this time? No pay no benefits?

How strange.  No that would never fly in Texas.

What kind of job do you have?  Is it shift work like nursing or in a factory?
