Paid mortgage Twice on accident ugh

My dad paid our mortgage this month as a Christmas present yesterday. Then my husband paid it again today not knowing my dad paid it.
How do I get that 2nd payment back?? Were so screwed we have 50 bucks in our account now:/

Not sure if you can if they already cashed it. Better contact the mortgage company ASAP.

I don't think they will give it back. Usually they just apply it to the next month. Sorry. :(



eta: i don't know how loans work since i haven't had one in 10 years.

You're paid up on the mortgage for another month. You're not going to get it back.

if you are used to paying your own mortgage then you should have that money that is normally allocated for it to spare. why only $50? does your dad usually pay your mortgage?
