I think I'm a shopping addict.

I was going through two of my accounts today. Kohls and Torrid, I added it up. In one year I spent almost $5000 at just those two stores. Im afraid to go through my checking and see that as well. It was a big wake up call, I didn't think it was that bad. But it is, so please any moms have this issue or similar who can help me out? I have paid off both cards, cut them up and am going to cancel the accounts in the morning. I have always loved to shop but stayed with in my budget and have never repeatedly maxed out any card until this past year. Bash because you will but any body who can really help I would appreciate it.

First thing return as much as you can.
Then stick all of your store credit cards in a browine pan add water and freeze them.
Check the interest rates on the cards and decide which one to pay off first.

The next time you shop, carry a nite pad in your purse write down what you want to buy & how much it cost wait at least 7 days and think about the purchase. Ask youself do you really need it? Is it really worth it? Do you already have one? Can you get something similar at a thrift shop for less?

Good luck

Set yourself a monthly cash budget of what you can spend.  You don't have to not shop, just have a set budget in order to be aware of how much you spend.  I agree with closing out the credit cards.

I spent $2000 at Nordstroms just last weekend. I'm no help at all.

Ouch!
I only ever go shopping if I need something. Most months I don't see any shop other than the grocery shop. Birthday gifts, school shopping and Christmas shopping are done as needed and clothes shopping is done once a year or as needed.
