Too big for his car seat???? Seriously what is the law? (FL)

My son will turn four in Feb. He is about 43in. tall and 41lbs. I have him in a Graco nautilus & intend to keep him in a 5 point harness as long as I can (60lbs for this seat) Several people have told me I am crazy to still have him in a "baby" seat. So I am just curious what is the law? I have googled & can't seem to get a straight answer. Not that I am going to change my mind. Is your LO still in a "baby" seat?

I think the law states for most states that they HAVE to remain in a 5pts harness till 4 years AND 40lbs. After that they can still remain harnessed till they put grow the seat. My 5 year old stayed harnessed till she out grew her seat. She's in a booster now.

Law he could go into a HBB at 4.  DON'T keep him 5pt harnessed until limits of the seat my son was just shy of his 7th birthday.  At 4 they are not ready to sit correctly or safely in a booster seat.  Plain and simple it isn't safe.

Just remember some people are perfectly fine with the minimum safety requirements for their children, which is exactly what carseat laws are.

My six year old is still five point harnessed in her Graco Nautilus.  She is 50 lbs.

They have to be harnessed until 4. After that, they can be boostered.

In Florida once they hit 5 they are no longer required any kind of seat...only seat belted...

That is most likely against the law and just makes me cringe at 3 mine would still be rear facing.

Who cares what the laws/minimums are?? Ignore them and use the seat to its limits.

My oldest will be 7 in March and is still in her 5 point harness seat. :)
