Pain Mgmt.

I am 30 years old and I am DONE living my life this way. When I was 15 I was in a horrific car wreck, a lady who was not only legally not allowed to drive but had been pulled over earlier in the day slammed into our car at an intersection t-boning us and spinning us across the road into a concrete jersey barrier. I ended up injuring my back in several places and I have had massive lengthy headaches ever since. I saw a specialist for many years until I got married and move out of the state, in the ten years since then things have been tough. My husband was active duty in the military and being bounced from location to location hasn't helped my issues. We are finally back home and things have calmed down so I went to my doctor this morning. I have been noticing an increase in my headaches, I can no longer bend without being in pain and if I so much as lift even my 10lbs dog my legs give out. She told me that there were many things we could "try" but it may or may not work so she's sending me to a pain specialist.

Has anyone here even been to one? I've tried chiropractic care, accupuncture, herbs, and of course diet and exercise. Nothing has helped in fact I feel worse now than I did before. I want my life back and I don't want to feel like shit anymore.

Quoting Anonymous: Be prepared to be heavily medicated.

I'm already "heavily medicated" but the doctor I am seeing takes a different approach. My own doctor sees him and she told me that she's seen amazing improvement especially in those that deal with migraines and back injuries. I would rather take some sort of medication and be able to be active than to be how I am right now. I am stuck in bed 5 out of 7 days a week, my kids barely know me because I am barely able to do anything with them. I am a shit mother and I know it.

I would gladly amputate my arm if I could just live without crying every single day.
