I have 2 kids. A 17 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. The other night, I had to quickly go to the nursing home because of a problem with my dad. I asked my 17 year old to keep an eye on the 5 year old.  My dh was at work.

I was gone 20 minutes and when I returned home, my dh and our son were playing with toy cars. I asked where our daughter was and my dh said our son was alone watching tv when he got home.

I was livid! When my daughter walked in the door, I confronted her and she said she had been out with her boyfriend. I said "I asked you to watch your little brother!" Then she screamed in my face "I'm not your fucking nanny!"

I slapped her hard across the face and then she ran to her room.

Would you feel bad?

Yes and no I would feel bad for hitting her but what she did was awful he could have gotten seriously hurt also she has no right to speak to you that way but no I would not have slapped her.  I'm not sure what I would do though I haven't reached the teen years yet mine are 2 and 4 months

Would I feel bad for actually slapping her? Yeah, I always feel bad if I lose my temper and act inappropriately.

Having said that, I admit that was some mighty big provocation.

You're right.  I should have kissed her ass and told her it's special.

It sounds like she feels taken advantage of. Do you require she sit often?

I am a Home Schooling, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Stay at Home Mom. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities and nosy, involved parents. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff:  we're Catholic, we're conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol).             Aimee
