I had an abortion at 22 weeks *obviously graphic*

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

I see so many people saying they would NEVER get a late term abortion and i bet most of you would if you are in certain situations

In my case we noticed that there was something abnormal about the growth of the baby at about 14 weeks. The head and top of the chest were growing normal but the rest of the baby did not. By 18 weeks the top portion had grown like normal but nothing else had. I started see every single specialist I could and many doctors. By 22 weeks it was very apparent that there was nothing that could be done to fix it. The head was measuring at the right size, the heart was still beating, but the rest of the body was not growing. No internal organs had grown and when I was 22 weeks many of the tissues were necrotic.

If I did not get an abortion ASAP I would have become septic. Delivering the baby was not an option as it would have spread out the necrotic tissue and the baby would have not been all in one piece so there wouldnt have been much to deliver.

Is there anyone who really would have not had an abortion in a situation like mine?

This story made me think of you, any new information on your baby?

Quoting kristiansmommy1: I'm not sure, I'm sorry for your loss, I'm sure that was really hard on you :(

He had a condition called "fetal hydrops",
And had fluid in his belly, lungs, around his heart and edema...

Quoting Anonymous: Why was he 5 pounds at birth and 2 pounds after 2 weeks?

Quoting Mom-to-2kids: I was in that situation, my DS was diagnosed with fetal hydrops at 14 weeks. I was advised to abort and was told I had until 20 weeks to decide, so the procedure could be done by 23

Weeks...I didn't get the abortion because I felt my DS should have a chance. Even at 28 weeks when my water started leaking, again in was advised NOT to take excessive measures to save him. Again I refused...my DS was born at 29 weeks via c section weighing 5lbs 10oz and 15inches long. The drs at the hospital I was transferred to for his birth, didn't just stand by like the others would have. After 2 weeks on a vent he was taken off, weighing just over 2lbs. My DS will CELEBRATE his 8th birthday this year...

I was just saying that while yours might have been similar if your son survived and lived it was the same as mine. If there was any chance my baby could have made it I would have fought. half his body was dead and rotting and I was already becoming septic

Quoting Mom-to-2kids: I told you my story don't pick apart to fit your agenda. I was told my DS would die long before he would survive birth and even IF he did he would die shortly after. The drs told me due to the hydrops when he "expired" it would be a emergency situation because I would become septic very quickly

So your son has no internal organs and no lower portion of his body?

I'm prolife and I probably would have done the same thing. The baby was never going to live outside of the womb and you might have died. You still chose life - your own life.

So the lower half of your child's body did not grow and there was necrotic tissue?

My DS was born with his skin on his belly splitting from the pressure

YOU are the one saying you were in the same situation. You weren't though. Your son had a fighting chance, her child had NO chance. Your situation was not like hers.

Don't mind her, I think she copies and pastes her story at every given opportunity whether ir pertains or not.

Okay...that isnt at all what happened with my fetus. The whole lower part of his/her body was dead and rotting.

Your story is so important to hear. It's not just whores who can't keep their legs closed that need access to safe legal abortion. There are women who plan and want their babies very much that sometimes have to make devastating choices.
