Porn vs. Long distance cheating

I fail to see how the two are different. I mean there are porn sites where you can talk to the person and tell them what you want them to do and what you want to see and you get to see that. There are porn sites where you can even engage in role playing with another person on video.

You look at pictures and videos when you watch porn and you get off to them. The only bit of extra you get from cheating over the internet or the phone or a dating site is having someone to casually chat with too. How is it that if a person is looking at pictures of porn and getting off to them not cheating but looking at pictures of a person that you communicate with is cheating?

I guess that's like saying fucking a hooker is the same as having a full blown affair.
I mean it's the same thing (sex), but one has emotional involvement the other is purely physical.

Getting it on with a hooker is an affair. There are actually more people out there than anyone knows that get emotionally attached to porn.

Why else would they get defensive when you have asked them if they watched it? Why else would so many people lie and do whatever they can to hide the fact that they watch porn?

My husband has looked at porn in the past.  He feels really bad about it.  Neither of these things would be okay with me and would pose a significant risk to our marriage.  I can see though that maybe if it's a relationship, than it's also more of an emotional betrayal.  I don't know.  It seems like almost everyone on here is okay with porn.

Yes but the fact is porn isn't ok. It creates the same results as a long distance affair. You have something/someone to get off to. Plus if people didn't see a problem with it they would not try to hide it and lie about it when they have watched it.

I'm not disagreeing that fucking a hooker is seriously bad and a relationship killer. But having a real serious girlfriend? That's gotta be worse.

1 mom liked this

In the end it is all the same. The other person cheated on you rather it was through text message or through a legitimate porn website.

And when you have someone who is watching porn all of the time rather than having sex with you or that HAS to watch porn to get turned on or wants to use the ideas that porn taught him or hides the amount of time they spend watching porn or that they watch it at all. I mean I don't see how it is different. The other person lied to you, went behind your back, went through all kinds of different lengths to hide what they were doing. Plus I think porn is worse because, sometimes, the other person does it right in front of you. Gets turned on by the sexual acts he/she is seeing done on the screen. It is the same as another person sending that person pics of them doing sexual acts and them getting turned on by that.
