Do any of you have an automatic litter box?  If so, what brand? Do you like it?

I use woodstove pellets and clean the litter box daily.

I don't.  I know a few people who tried the litter maid (I think that's right) and weren't impressed.

I did see a commercial for the Cat Genie the other day and am tempted to check it out.

I don't have an automatic litter box.  I like to be able to wash the box completely between litter changes.  You can't do that with an automatic litter box.

You can't?  Even when you switch the refills?

I don't because I don't think they're worth the cost. It's not hard to scoop out a litter box.

There is an electrical component, and from the ones that I've seen (Litter Maid), you really have to be careful cleaning it.  I put my box in the tub and spray it down really good with clorox clean up spray and then spray it down with my shower head.  I don't think you can do that with the automatic ones.  I would look at them really carefully before you buy if that is important to you.  I know that a vet tech told me that she's had them short out because of where her cat peed  on the box.

My sister's boyfriend has one from Skymall magazine. It works pretty well, but his bigger cat has figured out how to jam it. He doesn't like his poop disappearing. Haha!
