How much would you charge a friend?

How much would you charge your friend if you offered to watch her child?  Lets say their normal sitter cancelled last minute (7 hours before having to watch her).  You see that your friend needs a sitter for the night (5:30pm-2:30am).  You are up late anyway and don't have any morning obligations so you offer to babysit (hours needed to babysit were posted on Facebook so that was no issue).  This is your friend, not a client and it isn't a routine thing, just a one time thing.  How much would you charge? Oh and the child is 5 1/2 years old if that makes a difference.

Personally I wouldn't charge anything if a friend (or my sister) asked me to watch their kid.  Unless it became a weekly, or more regular, thing.  I'm a very nice person though so I don't expect everyone to do it for free.  I'm just curious what you would charge in this scenario?

I wouldn't charge a friend anything. I've had numerous friends babysit my kids for free and I'm always eager to return the favor!

If it's a once in awhile thing I wouldn't charge anything.

Well, we pay our sitters $12.50 an hour for our 10, 5, and 3 year olds. For one kid that will be sleeping some of the time while you are there, $7.00 and hour???

If it was just an every so often thing then I wouldn't charge at all.

Nothing if she's a good friend and her kid is nice ...
