My 3 year old son is obsessed with dragons and I haven't had the heart to tell him they're not real. Well today in the car he told me that he's going to ask Santa for a pet dragon that he can ride :/

DS watching his favorite show, How to Train Your Dragon

That's sad.

I would never let my children believe something was real that wasn't...

I love Toothless! Just tell him as fabulous as they are they only exist in our imagination. And because they do they can be real to us ;)

So no Santa or tooth fairy for your kids? I think that's sad.

Ugh. Get over yourself. Your lack of imagination is sad.

How are they not real? If he believes in it and he is 3 years old can you tell me the problem? If you are going to break it to him then about dragons tell him about santa as well and the easter bunny. And the tooth fairy. I mean what's the harm in him believing for a little and see if it works its self out?

Nope!

And I get bashed for it every year on here. BUT, I know it's best for my kids.

I have heaps of imagination. I've written several fantasy novels about *gasp* dragons and all sorts of things.

But I make sure that my kids always keep in mind that it is pretend!

I would just tell him that he can't have a pet dragon. They're too big to fit comfortably in the house. Tell him he could maybe get a stuffed dragon that he can pretend to ride on.

He's adorable by the way.
