Do you make more or less than the state average?

In your state, whichever one it is, do you make more or less than the state average?

I live in Arkansas and make roughly 4k more than the average. It is hugely surprising to me. I consider us way lower middle class. We have a mortgage, car payments, utilities etc to pay and we make ends meet but never manage to save much. It seems everytime we get a little savings we have to spend it on a repair or unexpected bill.

We do get state insurance for the kids and WIC. My husband has insurance from work but I only work part time so I currently have no insurance.

If we are considered above average I can only imagine the struggles of other's.

I found my states average by looking at the census bureaus website

OR state average for a family is 49k and together we made 75k last year. This year we'll make 69k cause I'm pregnant and quitting to be a SAHM at 5 months along

We make 2.5 times more than average according to the census. That seems highly inaccurate considering the average oilfield pay is almost double the state average.

For Washington State, the median income is $56K. We make above that.  It's a high cost of living state.  The city I live in has a median income of $76K.
