What Life With Kids Would Be Like if You Lived on a Pinterest Board (PHOTOS)

by Jeanne Sager

kids playing rock paper scissorsHave you ever paged through a parenting magazine and looked at the pictures? I mean really looked at the pictures? The fashion magazines tend to take all the heat for presenting unrealistic images to the world (and rightfully so), but let's be honest: stock images of kids are about as far from reality as you can get.

All those siblings singing kumbaya! And the immaculate backseats of those minivans! Most moms only see the former on odd Fridays and even Tuesdays, and as for the latter, well, maybe the day they drove off the dealer's lot?

Do you ever wonder what your life would be like if you had the kids who live in stock photography? Here's your chance to find out.

1.) You'd Send Them Out to Play Dressed Like This

An entire detergent industry would cease to exist.

2.) Two Kids Would Share the Same Chair

And no one would take an elbow to the mouth.

3.) 5 Kids, 1 iPad

And not a single fight.

4.) You'd Catch Them Sitting on the Counters

And you'd calmly drink coffee and chat.

5.) You'd All Hang Out With Your Feet on the Table

Miss Manners wouldn't sell a single book ...

You'd All Hang Out With Your Feet on the Table

6.) You'd Totally Climb Into the Blanket Fort

Instead of worrying over how much extra laundry this was going to create.

7.) This Is How You'd React to Your Kid Bouncing on the Bed

The "Five Little Monkeys" song wouldn't exist!

8.) She'd Get That Lipstick on Her MOUTH

Poor Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser would just sit on store shelves ...

9.) They'd Solve Problems Like This

Sibling rivalry? Never heard of it.

10.) They'd Pack Their Own Lunch & You Wouldn't Have to Double Check

Candy bars? Mom, please we want more apples!

11.) Your Backseat Would Look Like This

Stains? What stains? And what the heck are crumbs?

12.) Hairbrushing = Mommy/Daughter Bonding

With a face like that, she couldn't possibly scream "Owwww, you're hurting me, I hate you!" could she?

13.) This Wouldn't Give You a Mini Heart Attack

Because it would turn out just fine. Uh huh.

14.) Your Couch Would Survive This

Without calling in the industrial cleaning company.

15.) Toddlers + Glass Pitcher Full of Liquids = No Biggie

What? You see him covered in sticky juice and her with a shard of broken glass in her thumb? You're not thinking like a stock image mom!

If #13 happened in my house, I might have a heart attack ... how about you?

I love the one about calmly drinking coffee. Mine has to get reheated about 4 times before I finish it.

Number 4 and 6 I do. You can never to be old for forts and I love having conversations with my 4 year old amd if that means she sits on the counter eating an apple while talking then so be it!

Yeah no kidding. About 2 yrs ago DH and I took a cruise. Everyone kept asking me what was my favorite island, favorite part of the cruise etc. I don't even remember the names of the islands. My favorite part of the cruise was going on the adult only portion of the deck and drinking from start to finish a hot cup of coffee EVERY morning. Pure Bliss.

2,4,5,6 and 7 happen at my house.

#14 and 15 give me a serious heart attack. My 2 yr old dd would have spilled nail polish and broken glass everywhere. She's tries to be careful but she is so exuberant in everything she does. lol

My daughter is in first grade and she does #10 (packs her own lunch) perfectly. She can even make the sandwich herself, lol

My "kids" are adults, and I still won't let them paint their nails on my furniture!  LOL

I really would climb into the fort lol. In fact its usually my idea to make one! Other then that I think it seemed about right.

Edit: so far my kids don't fight over things either. One, they are very far apart in age (8 years old, 17 months old) and also big brother loves his sister and is pretty good about that stuff :) fingers crossed that it lasts lol!

11! HAHAHA When I switch DD Car Seat from the straps to the seat-belt (its still the car seat, we just took out the straps because they were hurting her), we took it out and I was like "ahhh DH just get the dog" and I walked away for a minute lol
