I see some posts on here about letting children stay home from school, for some silly reason. My husband's cousin just got a letter from the Board of Education about her children, because they have missed too much school. When I was a TA, I saw way too many absences for unnecessary reasons. Mostly laziness from the parents.
I know that children get sick, and sometimes it may be avoidable. But I can't believe that all of the absences are neccesary.
My children graduated high school with the president's award for attendance. They never missed one day. They got sick, my oldest even had a few surgeries. But we planned for them and made sure they were scheduled on off days. And yes, I was the parent that gave them Tylenol and Motrin and sent their butts to school.
The result, as adults, they have an amazing work ethic. However, my DH did not raise his son like that, he missed school for one cough. But he also has a good work ethic.
So, my question is, how important is it to you?
