UPDATE 2:

Last night we headed to the ER because DS was itchy and had an itchy throat. We waited forever to be seen and during that time DS spiked a fever.

He was the diagnosed with Scarlet Fever and an ear infection. He is on antibiotics and will be in the hospital for the next couple of days at least.

Doctor said we caught it early and the rash has already stopped itching.

Thank you ladies that encouraged me to go to the ER!

UPDATE 1:

THANKS LADIES WE ARE JUST GONNA HEAD TO THE ER JUST TO BE SAFE.

OP:

DS is 6. He's got this rash all over and has a "itchy" throat. He is itching so much and breaking his skin. Benadryl helps for about an hour. We only use hypoallergenic soaps, lotion and detergent. He also has been chewing the skin on his finger tips for the last 2 days saying they itch.

He has no fever. I called the nurse hot line and the said he needs to be seen in the ER since he can't get an appointment at his doctor until Thursday.

What do you think, ER worthy?

Should I be worried?

Are there no urgent care centers available? If not, do go to the ER.

All the urgent care clinics are closed. Is it really ER worthy?

My daughter gets hives like this all the time. Unless it spreads to his mouth or tongue it's fine.

Not ER worthy IMO! Keep that appt, call & see if there is a cancellation if you can be on the list to go right in! Is he out of school then?

Is it hives?? Are you dosing the Benadryl correctly for his weight. The pics don't show it too well. The throat being itchy, you need to know if it's swelling or anything. That's hard to detect, is he breathing ok?
