My brother is useless...

My brother moved in with my mom to help her out a bit. She's only 48 but she has disc degenerative disease (sp?) and she's had multiple back surgeries. She's not supposed to doing anything too physical. She's not supposed to be doing much more than walking. She also has glaucoma and is slowly going blind. My bro is there to do things that mom can't.

Last night we got about a foot of snow. My mom has a dr appointment today at 3:30 with a specialist that she can't cancel. She asked my brother to shovel the driveway (she still drives but won't once her eyes get worse) he went outside shoveled a path from her house to the garage then told mom he needed a rest.

My mom just texted me "you should see how much work I did shoveling" she got out there and did all that work because my brother locked himself in his room and went to sleep. Grrrr. He's 23 not 15. I would have done it or my dh but we only have one car right now and he takes it to work. I'm so pissed at my brother right now. My mom really could hurt herself.

Her dr said that if she has to have another surgery then she'll have to have a metal rod put in her back. My brother knows this he just doesn't care. He's so lazy. She told him that the only reason he's living there is to help her and if he's not going to then he needs to leave. He texted me telling me what a bitch mom is being today. I want to strangle him.

ETA: added pics of her driveway on pg 2

She just texted me pics of the driveway. She shoveled both ends and it took her 2 hours...while my brother slept.

Your mom should evict him and hire a home health aide.

I think I'm going to talk to dh about buying her a snowblower.

That's what I told her. She cut her finger open while shoveling because she doesn't have gloves and my brother is a "ehhh she'll live." She tried his gloves on but they didn't fit.

If you get her one she should hide it and still make him shovel by hand... and then take it out after he finishes

Or someone who will actually help her. He (brother) needs to go, he's just mucho.g off her/refusing to grow up.

Wow. My neighbor's kids come do theirs. They're about the same age. They've called us twice this year to ask us to shovel for their parents as the roads were too bad for them to get here. My 15 yo went over to do it.

Useless.  I'd be pissed at him too.
