Can I do this?

Tomorrow I am getting my brand new he washer and dryer delivered. Whooooo hoooooo!!!! I'm so excited. My question is, can I use regular detergent instead of the he kind in it? I just bought a huge bottle of Tide non he a couple of weeks ago because I wasn't aware I was going to be getting this machine and  I'd hate to throw it away. So can I do this? If I can't whatever I'm just curious.

I wouldn't. I believe the he detergent is less bubbly.

i hear you can but it can make your washer smell after awhile... unless that's just slanderous gossip used to make me spend more on detergent.

That actually depends on the type of HE washer you have.  Mine can take either kind of detergent.  But when I was shopping, I noticed some that can only have HE detergent.  Read your manuals!

If you don't want it to go to "waste" consider donating it to a local women's or children's shelter.  They almost always can use stuff like that!

I always use the HE kind for mine. I think the regular kind will get too sudsy.

No you can't.

The purpose of an HE washer is that it uses less water. So you need a soap that doesn;t get as sudsy and uses less water.

If you have an over sudsing issue the washer will, not might, will stop the cycle.
