I keep putting into hte program that DH is a non resident alien and I want to file for head of household.  The program keeps asking for his social security number. Should I just put that I'm not married?

He is a NON RESIDENT alien. He doesn't live here, has never been here.

If you want to file for head of household than you don't say you are married. If he doesn't live with you at all than you should just be able to file head of household. You may have to start of with single then it should change to hoh as it asks you questions and such.

I don't think you can claim him if he doesn't live here. I could be wrong though. Sounds like you're going to have to do some research.

I'm confused, you either file married or HOH. If he doesn't live here you can't claim him as a dependent.

I don't think u can do hoh if ur married.

If he isn't here he doesn't have to file.

Are u legally married in the us?

It says as of Dec. 31, 2013 were you married. I put yes. Then it asks if I want to file jointly, seperately, or head of household. He made no money for US tax purposes.
