So I have some newborn prefolds but not really sure how to fold them...the package has a little direction portion but the fold doesn't really work. She is really small and skinny

The cover is plastic. Wont that irritate her or will only the prefold be touching her?

Quoting UxorQuodMatris.: Fold it into thirds and lay it in the cover.

YouTube.
Jelly roll and angel fold (I think that's what it's called, it's the way my mom showed me)

I never had an issue with it. You can also jelly roll it in (lay her on the prefold with the cover under that, then roll it in until it is snug around her) and snap the cover over. That'll keep the cover away from her skin.

Back in the day when my now 16-year-old son was cloth diapered, I used the old fashioned square ones.  I had to fold it into a triangle, and use diaper pins to hold it on him.

Www. Diaper pages.com has great picture tutorials on getting a good snug fit with prefolds.

Are you using the old fashioned kind? There are videos that show you.
