I am currently almost 15 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I had a miscarriage 5 months ago. I don't like talking about the pregnancy at work except to close co-workers. I'm a medical assistant, so as of now the medical assistant that works next to me, the nurse I talk to, and the 2 doctors I work with I told voluntarily. I had to tell my boss and her boss because she wanted me to lift 30-40 pound boxes, so I got a note from my midwife. One nurse overheard that conversation. Some of the older patients have noticed my stomach sticks out a little and asked. Then this is where I get the rude responses. One person said, "For Goodness sake Patrice it's called birth control!" Another person, "You ain't pregnant again are you? It's like... can you just stop?" Another person, "Maybe when you deliver this one they can tie your tubes as it's coming out so you won't do this again." I told the nurse I talk to, the other medical assistant and the doctor I work with and we all agree that last one was just too rude. Since then I went back to denying the pregnancy.
