Baby boy with an earring

We recently adopted my four month old son. We are trying as keep his life as much the same as possible to ease the transition and to respect his biological mother's wishes for him. His left ear is pierced, his biological mother is a distant relative of my husband and it is very popular in their family for boys to get an ear or both ears pierced, my husband had an earring as a little boy and closed it in high school. It's a part of their culture, they believe that it's good luck. We have decided not to remove it to respect that. My husband only remembers getting teased once as a kid for it and we aren't too worried about that, but some people do give weird looks or think that he's a girl when he's not in a super boyish outfit. Hopefully that will go away as he gets older. Does anyone else have a boy with a piercing? My six year old son thinks its cool, he says Firo is like a pirate or Shakespeare.

We're waiting until he's older for that, don't want him tearing his ear lobe.

I know he's too young. Just a joke, but it'd be cute. :)

Not according to what they believe, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I wanted my sons ear pierced but I decided to wait until he's older so he can decide if he wants it and I didn't want to make him cry.

DH and I got my son's left ear pierced when he was 9(he was around 7 when he first asked us) and got his second one two years later. I personally don't see anything wrong with it. DH doesn't have either done. I think it's a personal/cultural preference. We had both of our daughter's done at 6 months old and all three of our kids did surprisingly well!

Hmm I would take it out just because I don't believe in modifying an infants body

It's already been done, so I don't see a reason to take it out.
