Whenever I'm showering or in a seperate room, I hear my baby crying but when I check on him he's just fine or sleeping. Is it normal to think you've heard your baby crying when in actuality they haven't?

Yes.

When your child is older, you'll turn around every time a kid yells "mommy!", even if you know your child is at home.
