I'm going to be a "Single Mom" for a month :(

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

My husband is overseas for a month. I am used to doing most of the day-to-day stuff by myself for me and my daughter cause he does work a lot, but the house feels so empty already (it's only been two days). Nights are the hardest after she does to bed. I have a new appreciation for full time single Moms... it's lonely!

**edit for all the "ladies" out there that feel the need to pick apart and bitch on every post**

OBVIOUSLY I know I am not a single Mom. I have a new appreciation for single Moms out there cause I am here alone for a month. I have no family or anything around here it's just my daughter and me. I'm not on here for sympathy or anything just saying... I'm lonely already. It's going to be a long month. Yes I know there are people who go thru longer separations than this (military etc) or are single Moms for years.

**2nd edit**

A lot of you are focused on the money issue. He is taking a month leave from work and is gone for family issues. No paycheck or money coming in from him this month. As a result I am working extra shifts. It's not so bad. I make double what he does and it isn't too hard to cover. The reason he works full time and I work part time is because our daughter is young and we feel like it's more important for me to spend as much time with her as I can before she is in school full time. I didn't mention money before because I KNOW that if I did, the comments would be that I am lazy and upset that I am working extra. That is not the case. I hope that cleared things up. I do NOT believe that I am a single mom in every sense of the word. I feel like a single Mom since I am the only one here taking care of our child, the house and all our responsibilities. Please note that Single Mom was in QUOTES.  I MISS HIM. I have a new APPRECIATION for single Moms. That was the whole point.

At first you said it was "a serious situation" being a single mom. Then you just said that "you take it seriously." Two different things. Taking something seriously, like being a mom, and saying being a single mom is "a serious situation" are 2 different things.

Quoting Anonymous: so?

Quoting Anonymous:

Taking it seriously and it being an actual serious situation are 2 totally different things.

Quoting Anonymous: Good for you. I do take it seriously.

Quoting Anonymous:

As would mine. Still not a serious situation to be a single mom.

Quoting Anonymous:

Well mine would be the actual definition of the word serious.

se·ri·ous

 adjective \ˈsir-ē-əs\

: having an important or dangerous possible result

: involving or deserving a lot of thought, attention, or work

: giving a lot of attention or energy to something

Quoting Anonymous:

You are absolutely right...For me...but I just don't see the seriousness in being a single mom. Apparently we have different definitions of the word Serious.

Quoting Anonymous: for you....

Quoting Anonymous:

Not likely, due to my children's ages, but again, still not a Serious situation :)

Quoting Anonymous: And once again. I hope you get the chance to experience that situation someday.

Quoting Anonymous:

Once again, even if that happens one day, I would not consider it a serious situation.

Quoting Anonymous: I hope you get a chance to find out someday.

Quoting Anonymous:

"Go be one?" I am happily married, so that's quite impossible. I still wouldn't see it as a serious situation if I were a single mom.

Quoting Anonymous: then if it's no big deal why don't you go be one.

Quoting Anonymous:

Well it darn sure isn't being a single Mom.

Quoting Anonymous: yeah the only thing that is serious is a heart transplant for a kid....

Quoting Anonymous:

And it's not a "Serious" situation either. I'm pretty sure a child waiting on a heart transplant is a "Serious" situatuon.

Quoting Anonymous: Well it's not a fucking walk in the park....

Quoting Anonymous:

That's a "Serious" situation?

Quoting Anonymous:
Quoting Anonymous:

Serious situation?

Quoting Anonymous:
Quoting Anonymous:

it's not that serious. I'm sorry I even typed the words Single Mom. Good Lord... all I was saying is I didn't realize how much I would miss him and how empty the house would feel. I hate it for you that you are so bitter that something so innocuous would get you so riled up... maybe try some yoga... or a vibrator... you need some stress release

Quoting o.O....: Seriously. With no support from anyone. I shouldn't be so irritated by this post, but I seriously am.

Quoting Alchemist_Momma: Exactly. I've been a single mom for 8 years. If she wants to know what being a REAL single mom is like, I'll let her live my life for one week. Let her work 40-50 hours a week, run the house, and take care of a kid.

Quoting o.O....: Oh fuck you. You have no idea what you're talking about.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

maybe you shouldn't make light of a serious situation you know nothing about.

being a real single mom.

Damn. Many negative replies. Don't worry about that Momma. People just LOVE to stir the pot. Sorry your Man is gone, it must be hard on you and your daughter :(. Just try and stay busy and before you know it he will be home. ~hugs~ ( and message me if you need a ear to listen)

oops for some reason I read sleep in. must have been skimming too fast (was trying to tear myself away from the drama to go cook dinner haha)

Quoting momof2ex1: Oh well of course I can't sleep in either. I said sleeping without snoring which means I would get a full nights sleep. I work a full time job and have two children with active schedules. I would still enjoy the alone time and ability to kind of do my own thing.

Quoting Anonymous:

that sounds awesome! But I have a 3 year old and working full time so no sleeping in for me :) But I have noticed that the house is staying cleaner! bonus

Quoting momof2ex1: If my husband left for a month - I would enjoy the sleep with no snoring and get my house cleaned spotless! I would also go shopping and spend time with my girlfriends. Take advantage!! He will be back soon.
