This has been a ongoing problem for 4 yrs now.I have talked to my husband numerous times about it and it still continues. He works 3-11 pm Mon-Fri. He gets home around 11:30 from work and stays up to around 4-5 then sleeps to about 1 or so. During the weekend he sleeps a little later,3ish maybe. This has greatly impacted our family life.We get little time together, because he is always sleeping. He also does little to help around the house. Our kids sometimes have morning events at school, which he won't go to.I feel bad for them when they have no one there when they get awards and such.I have decided that I'm done
dealing with this,I'm filing for divorce. He probably won't even care.

Just wanted to add...I am not a SAHM.I work 40 hours a week also. He doesn't have a medical condition,he won't sleep to late if he wasn't up so late. He stays up ,because he likes it. I want a divorce, because I want to be married to a man not a paycheck. At this point that's all he is.This has been going on for 4 yrs.I have asked, pleaded with him to try to change our current situation, but he won't. We have been together for 20 years,so it's not like I'm running away the first time there is problems.I'm trying my hardest,he's not.

Have you ever worked that shift? Can you ever come home from work and go right to bed?

My husband used to do that when he worked a similar schedule but we were young, not married and had no children. Then he grew up.

Edited: At least he's trying to support his family.

If he's working all those hours, I wouldn't expect him to be "helping around the house". Especially if you are a stay at home mom.  If he's paying the bills and is an otherwise good guy, I don't see it being a good enough reason for divorce.

He works night shift. It is what it is. So go ahead, divorce him for working.
