My parents were strict and neither my brother nor I ever acted out. No drugs, no sneaking out of the house, no teen sex, no shoplifting, no lying about where we were, etc. I got mildly annoyed occasionally with their rules, but I had been raised to respect their authority, even (or especially) when I didn't like it.

My parents were so strict on me, I barely have any fun memories from teen years. Then I moved out at 17, almost 18, and went crazy wild for a while. Be careful how strict you are. :)

I have awesome teens. (they are 15 and will be 18 on the 25th) There is really no bad to share about them....they get good grades, have good friends, like to spend time with the family, volunteer in their community etc.

I also work at a small private HS and honestly, MOST of our kids are awesome too. Given the exposure I have to teens I often wonder where all the "bad" ones are that people talk about, because I seriously don't see it.
