I have no idea what I'm doing! I've been stewing for the past week over what to cook, and only this morning came up with a final decision. People have been flocking to my kitchen for my clam chowder for years, and I'm constantly hounded for the recipe. No one, not even anyone on a diet, has ever turned down a second bowl.

The problem I'm now having is the side dish. I can't think of anything other than a salad and bread that goes with clam chowder. I really don't want to make a salad. A lot of people are picky about the dressing, and I don't want to buy every kind on the shelf for the sake of possibly grabbing the one they like.

What would you want if you were my guests?

I think a salad and bread sounds yummy. Just put out a couple different dressings, polite people wouldn't complain.

Clam chowder? People actually eat that? I suggest a salad too so that people that don't want to eat clam chowder can at least have salad and bread. Yours might be fabulous, but a lot of people just don't like it.

Crusty bread, a couple kinds of cheese, some mixed fruit.

A sandwich maybe? Soup and sandwich....there isn't much you can do as a side.

You could make a salad that requires 1 certain dressing because of the flavors in it. Or a cucumber salad or tomato, corn and something salad. lol Or finger sandwiches and fresh veggies,

Salad and bread is good. Just have a couple kinds of dressing. A vinaigrette is usually good, and ranch is popular.

I wouldn't serve soup for dinner. Sounds more like a lunch
