I just moved to Texas. I doubt I will ever say "y'all". How will I be perceived by people who DO say "y'all"?

The last time I was at a resturant here with my family, I heard someone say "Are y'all gonna get y'all s drinks? " What? Y'all can replace your?

A lot of people say that. If you are around it long enough, you might say it too

Not interested.

I was asking how do people who DO say it precieve people who DO NOT say it?

We don't perceive them in any way other than normal...Why would we?

I was born in Illinois but raised between Texas and Louisiana from the age of 2 months up. So yea I say y'all all the time. My family used to pick on me about it LOL when I would go there for the summers but they've gotten used to it even though they think it's funny.

I don't really perceive people any differently because they don't say it. But I can definitely tell the big accent difference in people who aren't from the south - I always notice the slightest differences but it's no biggie if they don't ever conform to our "slang language" LOL - well, at least to me it's not a biggie.

No one will care. I was born and raised in the south and never say ya'll. Nobody has come to revoke my Southerner card yet.
