This morning my munchkin was warm so i made sure to keep checking his temp. Around 10 am his rectal temp was 100.4 f° so me and his dad took him straight to the er. I wanted to be sure he was ok because hes barely a month old. Not even 5 weeks yet. All his tests came back fine and now i feel bad for putting him through all that. He had an iv for blood test and antibiotics, a catheter to take urine, and a spinal tap. All that to tell me nothings wrong. I hate that i put him through that

Discharge papers for a newborn says to take baby to hospital for temp over 100.4 when under 2 months of age.

Quoting peanut1968: You took him to the ER for a temp of technically 99.4?

Do you have an on call line you can call? That temp was not even doctor worthy without other symptoms. Sorry you put the baby through all that. Hope he feels better too.

That's not a very high temperature even for a baby. As long as he's acting normal, pooping, peeing, And drinking a slight rise in temp doesn't need to go to the ER.

Troll fail. I doubt they would do a spinal tap for no reason at all.
