I was born in 60's and survived. I had lots of fun too. There were days that my Mom even locked the door because I kept running in and out to get a drink, she told me "that is what the hose is for when you're outside". You also knew when you were in big trouble because they said your WHOLE name. Every friend I had their parents used the whole name thing when they were in big trouble.

I was born in 1964, this is all true!  The weight issue is absolutely true.  It was rare to ever see an extremely obese child or adult for that matter.   The school issue too.  There was NO arguing with the teachers, YOU were responsible for your grades and were left back if you did not perform .  I had major issues in math, but had to work them out all on my own.  NO coddling and I could go on and on.  In some ways, it was better that way.
