I told her it was going to happen. What would you do?

My dd is 10. She got an iPad mini for her birthday last month. She has a pretty long bus ride and she begged to be able to bring it with her to play on the bus. I told her I wasn't fond of the idea but it was up to her. She has a screen protector and a case on it but she ended up taking the screen protector off because there were air bubbles in it bothering her.

Well she brought it home like this today. She swears it happened before school at my dad's house. (She goes there and gets on the bus with her cousins) my dad said he has no clue. She's been crying since she got home from school because she thought we were going to hop right in the car and go get it fixed. We're not. I don't have the extra 90.00 laying around right now.

She also got mad when I told her she's not getting her allowance for quite a while to help pay for this. Dh thinks we shouldn't take her allowance and that we should just pay for it with no consequences. Wwyd?

That's why I'm not fond of letting kids have such expensive electronics. Yes,no allowance until she has earned enough to fix it

Hit enter too soon. You should have put your foot down these aren't cards or something easily replaceable. Should have stuck to your guns. Give her her allowance

I'd make her help pay to fix it.

Does it still work? Just don't buy a new one.

You warned her. This is the consequences. She needs to learn to deal with it.

A ten year old shouldn't have an Ipad to start with. It's your own fault for buying it in the first place.

No. I would stick with what you are doing. You told her it was a bad idea.. she has to learn some how.. But you also should have known to just say NO those are too expensive to take to school... why would she need it there? Just a distraction..

She can pay to have it fixed if she wants. I wouldn't put a penny toward it.
