Overreaction, or justified reaction?

So I was looking at a local news site and came across an article about a family who contacted the media and a local plumbing company about an offensive ad.

The ad showed a baby throwing a rubber duck in a toilet and underneath said "no job too small, call us today!"

The family found it offensive because they lost a son 19 years ago after he drowned in the toilet. Since 1996 there's been 20 similar deaths.

Would you have contacted the media to spread awareness over a harmless ad and try to berate the company?

The company apologized and said they'd remove the particular ad from future printings. I don't think they had anything to apologize for.

Are they worried another baby will see the commercial and maybe get the idea to play in the toilet?

They're saying that they don't want people to think it's ok.

Personally... I don't know anyone who encourages their kid to play in the toilet...

That's absolutely an overreaction.

Oh geez. While I'm incredibly sorry that they lost their son, that is just too much.
