You need to be counsellor no a c/o or cop. People dont want to open up and talk to people trained to mistrust you and lock you up in a cage and taze you.

You need a Bachelor or higher in psychology or human services to council.

It really depends upon what you want to do.  If you want to be a correctional officer or police officer, then I would suggest a criminal justice degree.  However, if you are looking into inmate counseling, then I would get a degree (preferably masters) in social work, criminal psychology or psychology.  Good luck!  You can do it.

BTW-I was a cognitive facilitator within a men's max. security prison. I taught anger/stress management, problem solving, communication, feeling, etc.

I talked to someone who works in the prisons here and they told me i only had to be 21. So i would just start going to school and then go from there? I thought i had to go to the police academy?

You want to counsel right? I don't think you need the academy for that part, but I honestly don't know
