Is it really that crazy to take a 5year old on a 4 mile hike? My sister told me it was nuts and I shouldnt make him walk that far. What are your thoughts?

Does she not realize the average 5 year old probably walks/runs more than that in a day...

Has he done it before?? That might be a bit much for a child.

I think if you pause for rest it will be fine.
I have taken my 4 amd 6 yr old on 2 mile beach walks.
They just start to complain on the last 1/4 mile stretch.

Not crazy at all! My kids hiked that far at 5, they don't even notice the distance because the terrain and sights are so interesting. (It's not like 4 miles of sidewalk)  Just bring lots of water and snacks.

Have fun : )

This was his first hike. He did fine until the last half mile then he started complaining.

My kids could do it at 4, my BFFs girls couldn't do it. It depends and you know your son.

Nope. Just plan on plenty of breaks.
