If you are on Medicaid...

I have a question. Do you have to go to certain doctors? Does it include dental and vision? I know nothing about this, but thanks to my state expanding Medicaid and obamacare, I am not eligible for the marketplace and must go on Medicaid because I am currently laid off from my job. I'm on unemployment and that automatically declines any other options. I'm pissed. I've never been on PA and I'm basically being forced to. How does this work? I've always had regular insurance.

Yes, it includes dental and vision and you can go to any doctor.

Sometimes it's hard to find a dentist close to you but pretty much any vision place takes it and any clinic or hospital is going to accept it.

Children are covered on vision and dental adult are covered on vision dental is state to state. Fl is starting to cover dental for adults starting may. It didn't until then.

Yes Medicaid has certain doctors that accept it. You can't just go to any doctorsm but with my experience the doctor are not bad like people on her like to think.

You have to choose a primary care dr for your regular medical care, and the PCP will give you a referral if you need a specialist, but for dental, vision, and behavioral health you can choose any dr that accepts Medicaid. Check the book they should have sent you for a list of drs that accept it, or you can just start calling places and ask if they accept it. Oh, and in my state, you have to choose one of 3 plans if you are on Medicaid, and then you would have to choose proiders that accept that particular plan.

And in my state - GA - I don't think adults can get dental or vision if they are on Medicaid, only children.

You go to whom ever takes it. Im on it, and found out the dentist i want to see because they sedate you, wont take it. AND most dentists who take medicaid, wont sedate. So i get to let my teeth rot out of my head more. I have panic attacks if im not sedated. We have vision as well.

I have not gotten any info yet. Just found this out on Friday. I was not happy. I have had my pcp for 16 years. My gyno since I was 18, so 14 years. I have a lot of female issues and having to go to a new doc freaks me out. I just hate this. Also, I live in the middle of nowhere, so the fact that I may have to go far away pisses me off. My kids are covered on their dad's plan. The place I worked cut everyone to pt , so we lost our insurance, now we are laid off, so not even working:/ just a bad deal. Looking for a new job without success.
