Keep in mind I'm under a L O T of stress so I know its irritating me more than normal but I would like to know if there is a reason for keeping the damn fence.

The fence is old and falling apart. On the left side the neighbor replaced the entire fence and on the back fence it's actually a double fence. My fence is falling down and just needs to come down. I will clarify with my back neighbors but from what I hear they don't mind if I just tear my fence down. Their fence is still in good condition and they don't mind me just taking mine down. The right side of the fence needs to be totally replaced.

My dad is insisting we spend the money and fix the damn fence in the back rather than take it down. Why!!!! Why should I put a new fence up when the neighbors don't mind and there is already a damn fence In good condition. Why do I need to replace it???

Good fences make good neighbors?  Or possibly because the fence is grandfathered in, if you were to tear down the fence and decide later to put in a new one you may not be able to put it in the same place.

So you would have a fence up against another fence?

But it won't no matter what. Ugh its hard to explain. But we each have a fence and our fences touch.

i would agree that its probably more so you cant be blamed for anything happening to their fence/property.
