Is Barbie banned at your house?

Posted by   + Show Post

I posted this picture of my newbie on facebook and I got a message pleading that I do my research on barbie.. barbie gives women and men unrealistic expectations of women.... -.-

are you FREKING kidding me?

Barbie never hurt anyone. SHE IS A DOLL. I played with barbie no body issues here. My grandma had a HUGE barbie collection so I got barbie everything as a kid. Did not scar me one bit.  I unfriended them. It was an old acquaintances Mother who sent me the message. I couldn't help but laugh. My daughter is almost 7 weeks old and has 20+ new in box barbies from my grandmothers collection that I saved plus my entire childhood collection ( yep those were saved too).  I am so pumped to be able to look at new barbie stuff too  when the time comes.

8 year old me living it up at grandma's house in her barbie room.

Omg I wish that people would leave Barbie alone. It is a toy! Barbie is always welcome in my home. She never made me think I should look any way. Where do people get this?

I wouldn't say "banned", but we don't go out of our way to get them, and we don't put them on our kids' wishlists.  Their wishlists are mostly science kits and things like that.

My daughter enjoying her science kit she got for Christmas:

No need for dolls when we have SCIENCE! haha.

But no, seriously, I don't have that much of an issue with Barbie in general... she's just not our style. :-)

Adorable baby, btw.

It does! He picks out pretty much everything he gets so it's not like I'm pushing him to watch or play with things lol.

Quoting Anonymous:

Different Anon here, but I applaud you for letting your children play with what they like. Makes the most sense, doesn't it?

Quoting Mrs.Pedro: Riiiiight. Because I wasn't just trying to answer her post title question. I have three sons and no daughters... So yeah... I'm not going to be like, "My imaginary daughter loves barbies!" Because that would be a lie and a stupid one at that.

Quoting Anonymous: -oh god another mom trying to get attention by bragging about how her little boy loves girl stuff .

Quoting Mrs.Pedro: No way! My son loves Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse show and he has a Barbie mermaid he plays with in the tub haha.
