English please

At the library with my children.  This woman is near the table we are at and I hear talking to her kid exclusively in Spanish (of course).  I ignore her.  A few minutes later she starts talking to an employee in Spanish.  The librarian simply smiles and shrugs.  I ignore her so more.  Finally, she turns and starts saying something to me! For fucks sake, Lady!  We speak English.  I just rolled my eyes ant her and walked away.  My kids are with me and I didn't want to say anything negative.

next time, a simple 'no comprenday' will suffice rather than rudeness

I wonder if the native Americans said to the pilgrims "Speak Cherokee or Navajo"

You need some lessons on the subject of English yourself.

Wow. Okay. I'm all for speaking English, but did you really have to be rude?

Who cares what language someone else is using? Would you give me a nasty look because my daughter uses sign language?

LOL, right?
Maybe its because I live in Los Angeles, but im so used to people around me speaking all kinds of different languages. It never bothers me.

Rude?  I said nothing.  I could have said a lot, but did not.  Besides, she doesn't know English.

You could have gone with something like, "I'm sorry, I don't understand." Basic courtesy never hurt anyone.

I owe her nothing.
