Reporting child abuse

Someone confided in me and told me that her husband abuses their 2 year old son. I'm talking slapping, punching, and shaking. I did not report the abuse at the time because she said she was reporting him and she was in the process of packing her things and leaving him. Now, a week later, I ask her how she's doing and she says she decided not to report the abuse and is working through her marital problems in counseling. Now, I understand wanting to work through your marital problems. But child abuse is not a marital problem. I want to report this but my husband thinks I need to mind my business. I know ultimately the decision is mine. What would you do? Would you report it or mind your business.

I would absolutely report it. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if i didn't and something happened to him.

Report it. I'm all for minding my own business when some women wants to make excuses for herself to stay with a man like that, but when their is a child involved and she makes excuses she is just as bad as him in my book. Children can't save themselves, report it. You may save that baby's life.
