Courting? Why can't it be called DATING?

I am guilty.  I have watched the stupid show on TLC Sister Wives when NOTHING else is on and kids are in bed.  That ass clown Cody is talking about one of his 1 milllion kids "Courting" where they can't touch, can only sideways hug, can't hold hands, kiss, etc.

I mean, REALLY?  What century is it again?  And yes I know they are polygamous and have some different religion, but BARF.  Just call it dating.

It's irony, I mean he has 4 wives and he is all up his daughter's ass, chaperoning the dates, etc.

He's a tool.

Because they want to use courting instead of dating?

Yeah well he has 4 wives, they don't have multiple husbands so it's not really ironic that he wants to control his daughters also.

I think the word courting is more romantic than dating. It implies the long term intention of marriage.

Because dating is a casual, see where it goes thing. Courting is getting to know each other with the intention of likely getting married.

I always thought courting is what they did before actually dating. Like different set of rules for each.
