"Misspelled" names

Obviously we can all agree Airwrecka is not a good name choice. But I'm watching a documentary on a historical witch trial and the 2 young girls are called Jennet and Alizon. Before judging a name you see on here, consider that there are other countries in the world or different eras where it was respectable.

I don't care how someone spells their child's name.

But also consider that your chosen name may have been acceptable at one point or in one place it may have a different meaning now. A name may have been meant for boys a century ago but if it is now used almost entirely for girls it's not a good choice for your newborn son. If you want to call your child Damon then spell it that way because if you spell it Daemon they'll spend their life explaining that their parents didn't mean to call them Demon.
