Prom Dress for a 12-year-old

I have to find a "prom" dress for my DD12 for a tap routine. She is tiny...size 10-12 girls. I can't find anything remotely prom like that fits her. I found some party dresses in her size, but they are so babyish. Any suggestions on where I can find something without spending a fortune??

I think a 12 in kids is like a 0 in juniors. You might want to start there.

Middle DD needed a dress for a wedding recently. She is 12 and between a 12 and 14. We found a very appropriate one at JC Penney in a Juniors zero. It had adjustable straps that helped as well as a tie for the back. A juniors zero is about a size 12 girls.

My 12 year old also wears a 10-12 in girls, but she can also wear a 00 or XXS in juniors. Not many places have those sizes though.

Junior bridesmaids sections, petite juniors sections, and maybe the phone number of a really good tailor...

What about a place that sells pageant dresses?

Try resale shops. A lot of times costumes like that are worn once and then placed up for consignment. Another possibility is renting one from a costume store.
