i don't see a reason for it. people are in "over-communication" these days.
yes there is ... children getting texts in the middle of classes is the reason that all cells phones are now forbiden in my daughter's school

Well, my daughter has her phone off during the day. She gets home from school before I get home from work. So if I need to remind her or ask her to do something when she gets home, I'll send her a text. That way I won't forget and she'll have it when she turns her phone on after school.
I wouldn't just converse with her in the middle of the day.

Our middle schools dont even permit children having cell phones so that wouldn't even be an option. If it were, I would think it was ridiculous for any parent trying to contact their children in the middle of the school day.
Yes. Kids shouldn't have phones on them in class in the first place.
